Mr. Abbott is a partner with the law firm of Gubler & Abbott. He earned his undergraduate degree from Brigham Young University with a major in English and a minor in Spanish. He then attended Western State University College of Law, where he received his law degree, graduating as Valedictorian with Summa Cum Laude honors.
 
In 2015, Mr. Abbott was named a California Super Lawyers Rising Star. This honor is reserved for only the top 2.5% of attorneys in California.
 
Mr. Abbott has represented clients in both state and federal courts, as well as before the Dept. of Labor Standards Enforcement, Employment Development Dept., the California Unemployment Insurance Appeals Board, the Central District of California and the Eastern District of California.
 
Mr. Abbott has extensive experience in business litigation. He has represented various clients throughout all stages of the litigation experience, from drafting complaints to motions for summary judgment to trial and post-judgment collection actions.
 
Mr. Abbott is well versed in all aspects of employment law, including the Family Leave Medical Act (FMLA), the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), the Equal Employment Opportunities Commission (EEOC), the Fair Employment and Housing (FEHA), Industrial Wage Orders, and COBRA. In addition to employment law, Mr. Abbott’s practice also emphasizes commercial litigation and collections. Mr. Abbott is currently a member of the California Association of Collectors, Inc. (CAC) as well as the National Association of Retail Collection Attorneys (NARCA).
 
He has written articles on legal issues that have been published in the Orange County Register Newspaper, and is a regular contributor to the Visalia Chamber of Commerce newsletter. He has also presented seminars before the Visalia and Porterville Employment Advisory Councils. Mr. Abbott has also served as an editor for the Orange County Lawyer Magazine. Before entering the legal field, Mr. Abbott served a two-year mission in Central America. He is happily married with five children.
 
His current areas of practice include employment law, creditor’s rights and collections, commercial law and litigation, contract and real property law.
